Domestic Volunteer Opportunities

WellShare International is currently accepting applications for the volunteer positions listed below. To apply, please read the application instructions and complete an application. Note that those interested only in domestic volunteer opportunities need not complete the following parts of the application: 1) passport information, including the fields on the application form and the photocopies, 2) dependent information, and 3) health insurance information.

International Partnership Research Intern

The IPR Intern will work with WellShare’s development staff to research and develop strategic plans for key partnerships. The IPR Intern will receive training from staff with development experience. This is primarily a research position. The IPR Intern will need to be able to review large quantities of information and report on them in a concise way.

Youth Wellness Classes 

We are teaching wellness classes at different locations around Minneapolis. The majority of the students are Somali-speaking youth. Our goals are to encourage students to eat healthy and increase their physical activities. A Somali-speaking community health worker leads the classes, and we are looking for four volunteers to assist with measuring students’ heart rate, blood pressure, and BMI and various other activities. Classes take place at these locations (click links for PDF of job description):

Anne Sullivan Communication Center, 3100 E 28th St., Minneapolis, MN 55406. Tuesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. June 27 through August 4.

Cedar Riverside Community School, 1610 S 6th St. #110, Minneapolis, MN 55454. Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon. June 15 through July 20.

Seward Towers, 2515 S 9th St., Minneapolis, MN 55406 (West) and 2910 E Franklin Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55406 (East). Tuesdays (West) and Wednesdays (East) from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. June 20 through August 11.

Trinity Lutheran Congregation, 2001 Riverside Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55454. Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to noon. June 20 through July 22. 

We're accepting applications for all these positions starting May 20, 2011. 

Health Video Coordinator

We are looking for someone to compile our various health videos for broadcasting on stations and at the Riverside Plaza. Read the job description.
