WellShare knows that healthy mothers do more than raise healthy children. They create healthy communities. Throughout the past 30 years, we’ve created programs that improve the outcomes of pregnant women and new mothers—by improving access to health care, educating community members and health care professionals on dealing with childhood illnesses, engaging men and women of reproductive age about family planning, and training traditional birth attendants to guide young, single women through early motherhood.
Our work has paid off. Communities implementing our programs have witnessed a marked increase in the number of newborns receiving care within 72 hours of delivery. Hundreds of thousands of young mothers have received education about family planning. And we’ve directed women to safe avenues for generating income for their families—allowing them to be self-sufficient and financially secure.
