International Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering with WellShare in Uganda or Tanzania is a unique, challenging cultural experience that allows you to make a direct impact in our work to save lives and improve the health of women, children, and their communities around the world. 

We encourage you to read the application instructions and submit an application today. Please include a cover letter with your application to let us know for which position you would like to be considered.

WellShare International is currently accepting applications for volunteer positions in Uganda and Tanzania on a rolling basis.

There is a $600 volunteer fee for these international positions. Volunteers are also responsible for covering the cost of airfare, food, non-work-related transportation, visa fees, and other expenses. WellShare covers the cost of housing, medical evacuation insurance, work-related transportation (including airport pick-up), and facilitation.

Volunteers who live in Uganda and Tanzania and provide their own housing during their volunteer experience do not need to pay the volunteer fee and will receive a stipend.

Medical Doctors and Nurses

WellShare accepts applications from medical doctors and nurses on a rolling basis, and we do not require a minimum length of service (although we do prefer a duration of at least two weeks).

Medical doctors and nurses who specialize or have solid experience in the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Neo-natal care
  • Management of childhood illnesses
  • Pediatrics
  • Anti-retroviral therapy
  • Obstetrics and gynecology, especially emergency
  • Child psychology
